Birth is the sudden opening of a window, through which you look out upon a stupendous prospect. For what has happened? A miracle. You have exchanged nothing for the possibility of everything. - W. Dixon

As a Birth Doula I will support you through the antenatal period, birth and beginning of your new life as a family. Antenatally I will make a minimum of 2 visits during which I will discuss your choices and options and support you in writing a birth plan.

You will also receive an information pack from Individual Doula Services.

You will have access to a library of books and information about maternity choices, birthing, medical issues and your rights during pregnancy and labour.

As part of a Birth package I will be "on-call" for 2 weeks either side of your estimated due date (from 38 - 42 weeks). If your baby has still not arrived by 42 weeks I will remain on call until the baby arrives. I will attend your chosen location during your labour and birth to support you and your birth partner. I will adhere to your birth plan and support you in your decisions during laour and birth. Following babys arrival I will help to settle you all and make you comfortable.

During labour I will also provide appropriate practical support, for example making tea, putting older siblings to bed, answering the phone/door, filling the birthing pool and keeping family appraised of the imminent arrival.

Postnatally I will make a minimum of 2 visits to check in with the new family and support with issues such as sleeping and feeding. Supporting both mother and baby as well as other family members with issues as they arise.

Fees for a Birth Support package are £450. Please contact me for a no obligation consultation to discuss your needs.
Please contact me if you are interested in working with a Birth Doula but feel that cost may be an issue. I am happy to discuss options and alternatives and believe in working with families who need support rather than just those who can pay for support.
